zfvm
A Rust implementation of the Zillowe Foundation Versioning Method.
zfvm is a Rust implementation of the Zillowe Foundation Versioning Method, a versioning method that extends Semantic Versioning with a development branch, a maturity status, and an optional build identifier.
The canonical form is:
[Branch] [Status] [X.Y.Z] [Build]Key Features
- Spec fidelity: Implements ZFVM specification version 2.1, including the closed vocabularies, the character and case rules, and the
Release-with-zero-major restriction. - All five forms: Parses and renders the canonical, contextual, semantic, symbolic, and shorthand forms.
- Correct precedence: Compares versions on the same branch, and reports cross-branch comparison as an error rather than inventing an ordering.
- Order-preserving
SemVerprojection: Projects ontoSemVerusing numeric status ordinals, soSemVerprecedence reproduces ZFVM precedence. - Safe tag parsing: Matches release tags against the vocabulary instead of splitting on hyphens, so
Pre-Alphaparses correctly.
