Privacy Policy
How we handle and protect your data at Zillowe.
1. Introduction
At Zillowe Foundation, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal data you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you visit our website.
2. Data Collection
Contact & Involvement Forms
When you use our "Contact Us" or "Join Us" forms, we collect information such as your email address, subject, and the content of your message. We use Formspree to process these submissions.
Website & Documentation Analytics
We use PostHog to understand how users interact with our documentation and website. This helps us improve our software and services. PostHog may collect your IP address and general usage patterns.
Additionally, we use Cloudflare Browser Insights to monitor the performance and security of our website. This collects anonymous technical data regarding page load times and network performance.
Note: We do not track you by default on the web. Analytics are only enabled if you provide explicit consent via our cookie banner.
Content Delivery & Security
Our website is served via Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process your IP address and other technical data to protect against DDoS attacks, ensure site security, and optimize content delivery (CDN). This processing is essential for the secure and efficient operation of our website.
Application Telemetry (Zoi)
Our universal package manager, Zoi, includes an opt-in telemetry system. If you choose to enable it, Zoi sends anonymous events (such as package installations or executions) to our PostHog instance.
The data collected is strictly limited to technical details (package names, OS, CPU architecture) and a randomly generated anonymous client ID. We do not collect IP addresses, hostnames, or any personal identifying information through Zoi telemetry.
Note: Telemetry in Zoi is disabled by default. You must explicitly opt-in using the application's command-line interface. For full details, see our Telemetry Documentation.
Local Application Data
Zoi maintains local logs (audit logs) and configuration files stored in your home directory (~/.zoi). This data is used to track your installation history and preferences locally. This data is never transmitted to Zillowe Foundation and remains entirely under your control.
3. Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies and local storage to enhance your experience:
- Essential: To remember your cookie preferences and theme settings (Dark/Light mode).
- Analytics: PostHog cookies are used only if you opt-in to help us analyze site traffic.
4. Third-Party Services
We share data with the following processors to provide our services:
- Formspree: For processing form submissions.
- PostHog: For website analytics and application telemetry (opt-in only).
- Cloudflare: For content delivery, security (DDoS protection), and performance analytics.
A copy of our Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with these processors is available upon request for transparency and compliance purposes.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, such as responding to your inquiries or maintaining our analytics records.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location (e.g. GDPR in the EU, CCPA in California), you have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete your information. To exercise these rights, please contact us.
